Great Basin Booth Survey

Posted on by Charlotte Larsen

New Booth at Great Basin
Hi! My name is Amy Costello. I’m working on organizing a booth for GBFAF next year which will sell spindles made by
local woodturners (so we can have access to some really nice, pretty, and locally made ones!). At the April guild meeting I
collected data from our members about sizes and weights of typical spindles, and this past month I wrote a technical
document to help turners understand what makes a drop spindle a useful (and beautiful) tool! Thanks to everyone who
brought a spindle to that meeting for your contribution to my tech sheet!
As a follow up, I have made a web survey with a few questions about what people might hope to find at a booth selling
spindles, and what kinds of prices seem reasonable for various levels of decoration and so forth. All of this information
will be used to help turners decide what kinds of spindles to make and how much time they can put into each one. No
matter how much experience you have actually spinning with spindles, if you’ve ever thought about buying one, I would
appreciate it if you took a moment to respond to my survey! Thanks in advance.
